Tampa Bay Lightning Home Attendance

This data visualization below was done through a team challenge in my current role as Data Analyst with Brambles (see current openings here, it’s an incredible team!)

Our team has data visualization challenges where one dataset is shared amongst the team and each member comes up with ideas on how to best visualize it.

In this particular challenge, we were given NHL attendance data from all seasons throughout 2000-2017.

As a local in the Tampa Bay area and a fan of the Tampa Bay Lightning, I felt it necessary to focus solely on the visualizing the data for the team and how hockey has grown within the area!

Some great feedback I received from colleague’s to improve this visualization include:

• When displaying growth, it is useful to do so as percent growth or to have percent growth included to give the reader better context

• On the ranking chart, as I am focusing on the Tampa Bay Lightning, it would be ideal to have that line all the way up front.

These are useful tips that I plan to review and use in my future visualizations!
